Who pulled the boss?!?! ... Wipe it. - March 18

Guildsite changes are incoming this weekend, and they're carrying a huge club to smash faces with. This is a heads up to prepare you all for some possibly breaking changes to your guildsites.

Quick Theme Base Template
The quick theme template is changing. I've done what I can to make this change seamless for most guildsites. This change will not affect anyone using a pure CSS template. An example of the new base template can be found here http://newpreview.guildtag.com/
The base template CSS has been cleaned up. This will be a good starting point for someone to alter a quick theme into a custom css theme. You can view your quick theme css by viewing the page source of your guildsite. We will be posting simple tutorials to get you started on modifying a quick theme in the guildsite customization forum.

Quick Theme Editor
This screen has been simplified greatly. Many of the color pickers have been removed, and instead we will be using shades of your chosen colors to create a consistent look and feel.
The concept of "light" and "dark" theming has been changed. You can now choose a light or dark overlay for your header and navigation elements. These overlays pick up your base color and will no longer generate a hoard of images on the server. This overlay is only visible to users of IE7+ and Firefox (probably some other browsers also). These should fail gracefully in IE6-. If you look at the site and see display issues please let me know, and then upgrade your browser.
The color picker for quick themes has been changed. The new color picker allows you to choose any color available (you can still type in a specific hex value).

Forums
The look and feel of forums has been changed significantly. This involved adding new css classes to the forum html, so if you had custom css in your guildsite this will probably break it.
You can now add moderators to a forum. You may be able to add sub forums to a forum - we are still deciding. If you'd like this feature added please respond to this post.
Most of the administration of forums is still the same. A couple things may work a little differently, but I'm sure you'll figure them out ;) Forum changes can also be seen here http://newpreview.guildtag.com/

That's about it for this release, though it has been several weeks in the making. If you have any feedback please respond to this thread.

Image Upload Enabled - January 27

If you have any troubles with newly uploaded images, or images that were uploaded previously please let me know.

Forum Performance Improvements - October 08

I made some forum performance improvements today mainly by removing the little popups that displayed when you hovered over a users name. In some cases this has improved performance by 10x... I'll miss the hover menu information, but it wasn't useful enough to warrant the performance hit.

More forum improvements are slated for the near future.

Theme Changes - August 25

In the past there was the concept of a "base" css theme that always loaded. Its goal was to provide an easy way for you to add a little bit of CSS to change your site. As of now there is no such thing as a "base" css theme. Whether you chose to use a quick theme or a CSS theme (or both) the only styles that are applied will come from these two themes.

I have tried to make this transition as painless as possible, but there will be some issues with layout on sites that use both CSS and Quick themes. Please report any major issues in the forum and we'll work to get them fixed.

Tha major issue I see as of now is that users who created a CSS theme using the old example are missing some key components that will cause the members widget to expand horizontally.

A new example css can be found here - you will need to modify your CSS accordingly.

These changes were made for a reason, and that reason is not just to cause guildsite admins frustration. Within the next few days I will unleash the CSS theme creator which will allow users to create, preview, and submit their CSS themes for other guildsites to use. Hopefully the painful transition will be worth it.

Quick Theme Upgrade - July 20

A pretty significant upgrade to quick themes has been completed. You'll now be able to pick from several predefined html colors as well as enter your own hex color. Please let me know if you have any issues.

Security Update - July 18

The security model for guildtag has been updated. This will allow for more flexibility for guildsites in the future.

This change should be completely transparent to you as a user. If you find you do not have access to something you used to or that you now have access to something you didn't before please report it in the forums or use the contact us link.

1,000,000 Page View Milestone - July 09

Guildtag crossed the one million page view milestone for the year today. Thank all of you very much for helping to make this happen. :)

Here's to many more page views.

Google, Redirects, and Referrals - June 16

I've removed about 1,000 redirects that were created to try and get google to realize guildtag had switched from a subdomain to a subdirectory model. It's been three months and google still hasn't sorted the site out so I decided to remove all the redirects. This *may* help improve site load times overall.

I'm starting to see some referrals from random forum posts and blogs. More would be great though! If you see the opportunity to tell someone about guildtag please do.

Event Singups - April 10

Guildsites now allow event sign ups for members. To enable these you must attach your guildsite to a guild on the social network (do this on your guildsite settings page). Members that have characters in this guild will be able to sign up for an event and select which character will be attending.

You can also specify other character attributes to show for characters that have signed up so that you can see what class, level, spec everyone is.

The default event signup page for members is "http://yourguildsite.guildtag.com/event/". Don't forget to create a link on your navigation bar.

DKP Beta - April 07

I've implemented a simple Dragon Kill Point system for all of our guildsites. Guild characters earn points by attending a raid event, and spend points by purchasing loot. How you manage your loot distribution will be up to you as a guild leader. This tool is mainly to be used to keep a running total of how much DKP members currently have and as an archive of their past loot.

What's in:
- Imports from Raid Tracker WoW addon are supported.
- Import Characters from the Social Network your guildsite is attached to.
- Wowhead tooltips
- Reporting on Raids and Characters

What's out:
- Characters DKP values cannot be linked together (ie: same player, alternate characters).
- Multiple Raids cannot be imported in the same CT Raid XML file.
- Does not support Zero Sum DKP.
- Point adjustments can only be made by creating a dummy event and assigning users to it, or by creating a dummy loot and assigning positive or negative item cost.
- Time invested for a raid is only calculated for CT Raid Imports.
